Staatsloterij World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam: Who is competing for the Netherlands and how to follow the event?

Just one week to go until the starting signal sounds for the Staatsloterij World Rowing Championships 2026 at the Bosbaan in Amsterdam. From 24 to 30 August, the world’s elite rowers will battle for the world titles. For the first time since 2014, the World Championships return to Amsterdam waters. Host nation the Netherlands takes to home water with fifteen crews: twelve TeamNL Rowing boats and three lightweight crews competing independently.

Staatsloterij World Rowing Championships back at the Bosbaan

For the international rowing community and fans, this is a special edition, as the World Championships take place at the Bosbaan for the third time in history. Over the past months, extensive preparations have been made to get the venue fully ready for the biggest rowing event of the year. With the grandstands in place and the event grounds complete, the Bosbaan is ready to welcome the world’s best rowers and thousands of spectators.

 

For host nation the Netherlands, the regatta marks a key milestone in the international season. The Dutch squad has enjoyed a strong build-up year, claiming eleven medals across the World Rowing Cup series and building on previous international successes. On their home course at the Bosbaan, the national team now gets the opportunity to race the world’s absolute best in front of a home crowd.

Programme

The first races are scheduled for Monday 24 August. The heats will take place on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the first semi-finals from Wednesday 26 August. The world titles will be decided during the finals from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August. The full racing schedule can be found via the button below:

 

How to follow the World Championships

At the Bosbaan

The best way to experience the World Championships is trackside. With a fully equipped fan zone, 5,000 grandstand seats along the course, and seven days of world-class racing, there is plenty to see for every rowing enthusiast. From the opening heats on Monday to the finals over the closing weekend, the Bosbaan will be the centre of international rowing for a full week. Tickets are still available via the button below:

 

On TV and Online

Unable to make it to Amsterdam? Starting Wednesday 26 August, NOS will broadcast the semi-finals and finals live. Additionally, World Rowing will provide live streams throughout the week, including live race tracking, official start lists, results, and event updates.
