About
With its mix of historic charm and modern flair, Amsterdam is set for a summer of world-class sport. In August 2026, the Dutch capital will host the 2026 World Rowing Championships — an event of global stature. At the heart of it all: the iconic Bosbaan, nestled in the green Amsterdamse Bos and just steps away from the vibrant Zuidas business district.
The Bosbaan is no stranger to rowing greatness. For decades, it has been the stage for national and international competitions. During the successful 2014 World Championships, it welcomed over 40,000 visitors—once again proving itself as a venue where sport, nature, and experience come together. Ahead of 2026, the venue is undergoing major upgrades to welcome more than 1,200 athletes and thousands of fans from around the world.
Amsterdam breathes sport, culture, and connection—making it the perfect home for a championship built on precision, power, and unity. As the world’s best rowers slice through the water in pursuit of the rainbow jerseys, the city and its people will provide a warm, international atmosphere.
From early morning sprints to golden summer evenings by the water: this is where rowing history will be made. This is Amsterdam at its finest—and you’ll want to be there.

Event Schedule
The 2026 World Rowing Championships will take place from August 24 to 30, 2026, and span seven thrilling days of top-level competition. Across the week, world titles will be contested in both Olympic and non-Olympic classes, including para-rowing events. The regatta will feature heats, repechages, semifinals, and finals, building towards an action-packed weekend with the A-finals—where medals and glory are on the line. With over 1,200 athletes from more than sixty countries, every race promises intensity, precision, and passion on the historic Bosbaan.

Two Regatta Directors
For the first time in the history of the World Rowing Championships, a dual regatta directorship is at the helm. Olympic champion Ilse Paulis and double Olympic champion Nico Rienks are combining their experience and passion for the sport to make the 2026 World Rowing Championships at the Bosbaan an unforgettable event.
With their shared vision, they promise a forward-looking, inclusive championship where world-class rowing, vibrant atmosphere, and national pride come together. A regatta full of goosebump moments — not to be missed, both on and off the water.
