Floating WK clog “Cloggy” christened during the Heineken Roeivierkamp
During the Heineken Roeivierkamp on the Amstel, a special World Championship vessel for the 2026 World Rowing Championships was christened on Saturday, March 14 at 5:00 PM: Cloggy. The floating clog was officially christened by two Dutch top rowers: Olympic champion 2024 Ymkje Clevering and world champion 2025 Roos de Jong.

With this christening, the promotional tour of this striking, typically Dutch eye-catcher begins in the run-up to the 2026 World Rowing Championships, which will take place from 24 to 30 August 2026 at the Bosbaan in Amsterdam. Cloggy fits perfectly with the tournament’s central promise: World Class. World Rowing. Welcome to Amsterdam.
The 2026 World Rowing Championships will bring together the best rowers in the world next summer at the Bosbaan and will be an international sporting event where elite sport, innovation and hospitality come together.
A Dutch wink
It hardly gets more Dutch than a clog. That is exactly why the organizers of the World Rowing Championships created Cloggy.
The clog – fully designed in the championship’s branding – will travel to several rowing events across the Netherlands in the coming months. It will serve as an eye-catcher, a social-media moment and an invitation to the public.
The name Cloggy refers to the nickname that Dutch people sometimes receive abroad: Cloggies. A playful combination that perfectly fits a world championship that connects international top sport with Amsterdam’s hospitality.
Promotion towards the World Championships
After the christening, Cloggy will immediately take to the water and start its World Championship tour along major rowing events in the Netherlands. There, the clog will appear as a recognizable symbol of the championship.
Christening by Dutch world champions
The official christening was carried out by Ymkje Clevering, world champion 2023 in the women’s pair, and Roos de Jong, world champion in the women’s double sculls in 2025.
Tournament director Nico Rienks, two-time Olympic champion, led the ceremony on the Amstel.
“With Cloggy we are bringing a typically Dutch symbol onto the water,” says Rienks. “A clog that literally sails around to invite the world to come to Amsterdam.”
